Lots of stations heard in England tonight (August 11, 2011)

A very busy night on the MW band today, with many stations heard. These are the logs, made with the Lowe HF225 receiver and outdoor loop antenna. All times are UTC:

Lots of qsoing tonight, mainly after Mustang finished with his music programme on 1636, which was coming through very well indeed and with excellent modulation. Of the qso stations, Studio Friesland was doing particularly well, hitting 44444 at one point. Noordzee, who is often very strong, managed to get the maximum 55555 just before he finally closed down for the evening

One of the most interesting stations heard was Meteoor. I remember this station from SW back in the 1990s and I think I am correct in saying that he is usually active during the daytime on MW with low power. Tonight his signal was one of the best on the band, so I think the power must have been a little higher this time. Very nice to hear the station again after so long

Atletico and Albatros were also doing good work with low power and I think they would be heard even better here in England later during the evening. Conditions got better and better last night

Professor Zickbok had a busy evening. He was first heard at 2113 during a qso but after he had finishing talking to other stations he was back on air with music until closing down at 0235 Dutch time

Santana from Beilen was coming in very well with his music programme on 1655. I hear that his longwire antenna has recently been adjusted, and it is now working very well. Nice music with programme that ended at 0151 Dutch time

Uniek was surrounded by stations for much of the evening, but once everybody had closed down, the signal was fair with not much interference or fading. And there was even some English music for the international listeners during the long programme that ended at 0248 Dutch time
