MW Pirate Review - MG Piraten Terugblik

Hi everybody!

I've been busy making lots of recordings of the stations I am able to hear on MW in England, and I thought it would be a good idea to put these together each month so that everybody else can take a listen to my reception of the Dutch MW pirates.

So, the first edition of MW Pirate Review has been completed and includes recordings that I made last month. If you click on this link http://k003.kiwi6.com/hotlink/n20x3t6u4 ... view_1.mp3 then you will be able to download an MP3 file that will hopefully be of interest to many station operators.

At the start of September there will be a new MP3 with recordings from August and then another one every month. I hope everybody thinks this is a good idea and enjoys listening. Please download the file, take a listen and let me know what you think. You can always leave comments in Dutch, and I should be able to understand!

Ik ben erg druk geweest met het maken van een groot aantal opnames van stations die ik kon ontvangen op de middengolf in Engeland.

Misschien is het een goed idee om deze opnames iedere maand als een compilatie bij elkaar te zetten zodat iedereen naar mijn ontvangsten van de Nederlandse middengolf piraten kan luisteren.

De eerste editie van "de MG Piraten Terugblik" (MW Pirate Review) is nu gereed en bevat opnames die ik de afgelopen maand heb gemaakt.

De opmerkingen en commentaren kunnen in het Nederlands gemaakt worden, dat is geen probleem voor mij.

Yes, and especially the 'side' comments and not just a SI(NPO) list.
Very nice to read your personnel observations.
Does remind me about Andy Richards on AlfaLima.net with a similar and very nice style of reception logging.

Concerning the MP3's, I dont know. Nowadays there are a large number of webreceivers around and 3 out of 4 receptions reports one receives includes an MP3.
So one is able to check his own reception without much difficulties.

What maybe could be of more interrest (if you ask me) is the comparison of the signal strengths and audio power and quality of multiple received stations around roughly the same time of day.

Hello David,

I just finished listening to your first MW Pirates Review.
Excellent job, well done!
I especially like the announcements. Maybe you can add some more comments to it or mention a catch that is special for you, like a station that you received for the first time etc..
During listening, I automatically start comparing the receptions with each other but I know that they are not recorded at the same time and conditions can differ a lot.
Nevertheless some stations like Baro, Napoleon and Orban sounded excellent!
I will do my best to compete with them and learning from your recordings of low power stations is that it is indeed possible to be received with a good quality and without noise if the conditions are right and the frequency is clear.

As said before keep up the good work David!
I am already looking forward for the next MW Pirate Review!

Many thanks for all the kind comments so far. I hope you have all enjoyed what you have heard. Next month I will include more recordings, hopefully of more of the lower-powered stations so you are able to hear just how well it is possible to be hear in England.

Good idea and it is interesting to hear your recordings of medium wave stations.

What would make it better is if you include a short introduction to each clip giving the station name, time and frequency and any other comments.

But I'll certainly be looking out for the September MW review!

I’m impressed by the reception quality over there at your side. Not much noise. Many crystal clear signals! Orban sounds like an FM station…

I particuarly enjoyed Radio Barones. Great music and another good performance by the Baro! :)
